Curio Studios » Modern Toronto Wedding Photography Studios

It’s been a busy time of the year at Curio Studios and we finally have time to catch up with the blog posts!

Clifton Li from Curio has known Sharon, the bride-to-be, since they were in elementary school together. He is more than ecstatic that she is getting married and that she has chosen Curio Studios to be her wedding photographer.

The pre-wedding shoot was done in the middle of winter so it was a good decision to have it indoors at the beautifully historic Graydon Hall Manor. We did a location scout prior to the actual shoot so that we could maximize efficiency, since it was only a two-hour session.

The manor, which emits a similar historic feeling as the famous Casa Loma, was constructed in 1936 and has 29 rooms, each decorated with a different lavish theme. The exterior of the manor, along with the terraces and garden walls, were built with the same multi-coloured fieldstone, giving the entire property a harmonious and grand aesthetic. The impressive courtyard features a lovely fountain, made from imported Indiana stone.

With many of the rooms and even the courtyard, the manor’s design places an importance on symmetry, and we tried to reflect that in our photos as well. The manor was a spectacular location to have the pre-wedding session because of the several unique settings, giving Sharon and Alex a nice variety of different images.

Earlier this year Curio Studios was commissioned to photograph a destination wedding in Punta Cana. While we were there, best friends of the bride and groom, Christine and Kevin, was there as well with their two year old son, Kyle. Admiring our dedication and hard work during the week of the wedding and taking advantage of the beautiful destination we were at, they asked for a family photo session.

We captured the whole family having fun at the beach on a beautiful overcast day where the sky and the water was almost the same shade of grey blue. Kyle was at first a bit shy but as he played more and more, he opened up and was incredibly active.

With the sight and sound of the ocean waves and the palm trees that dotted the coast, it was the perfect setting to have the family photoshoot because it was fun for Kyle yet romantic for his parents. We are so lucky to have been the ones to commemorate the beginning of Christine and Kevin’s family alongside their best friends’.

Kari and Allen’s wedding was the first wedding of 2015 for Curio Studios and what a beautiful celebration it was to start off our new year! Shangri-La Hotel, a wonderfully luxurious Oriental-themed hotel hosted their wedding and it was arranged by one of Toronto’s top ten wedding planners, Rebecca Chan Weddings and Events.

It was a lovely spring wedding, but the Canadian spring weather still made it fairly cold outdoors. The day was mostly spent inside but since the decorations made the indoors so lavish, it didn’t seem to matter much anyways. Fete Boutique Floral + Event put together incredible floral arrangements for the tables, which were made up of cherry blossoms and white hydrangeas. The white rose petals that decorated the cream coloured runner leading down the aisle was another nice addition to the spring theme.

The colours of the flowers not only contributed to a light, spring atmosphere but matched very well with the hotel décor itself as well, like the intricately beaded hanging chandeliers. The wedding celebration ended with an array of pink and white sweets: a macaron-tiered cake, an abundance of cupcakes, and Shangri-la’s signature cotton candy presented on birch coloured branches.

This wedding is also featured on The Wedding Co.
